While three of the graduating students came out with First Class honours, nine bagged best graduating students in various departments. Same day, the institution also installed the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh as her Chancellor.
The graduates who bagged First Class include Miss Glory Chiamaka Osuachalla (Economics); Miss Favour Udo Chukwu Chukwudum (History & International Relations), and Mr. Chimnazam Ifeanyi Nnaemeka (Religion & Philosophy). Twenty-two students graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 37 with Second Class Lower Division, and eleven with third class degree.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Uche Isiugo-Abanihe, noted that the institution has churned out the best who would contribute immensely to the development of the country in various fields.
In his speech, the proprietor, His Grace, Most Rev. Christian Efobi who doubles as the Archbishop Province of the Niger, and Bishop of Aguata Diocese in Anambra State, enjoined the graduating students to remember that they are the mirror reflecting the image of the university to the world. “We expect nothing but the best attitude from you as you go into the larger society,” he said. “Your faithful life should be maintained everywhere and anytime. Wherever you find yourself, make a genuine difference that will attract honor to God and this University.”
Responding, the pioneer Chancellor, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh who was visibly elated expressed his gratitude to the university management for the honor, promising to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the faith-based University is transformed.
The best graduating student, Miss Glory Chiamaka Osuachalla, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the university management for devoting their resources to equip them in all facets of their academic endeavour. Attendees to the convocation include the former Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme; Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, represented by Mr. Ray Offor; Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Alex Ibezim; Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor (represented); Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma and bishops from many dioceses East of the Niger.
