FUTA Management Begins Recruitment Of Staffs For Her Primary School, After FG Discontinues Payment Of Staff Salaries

Furtherance to directive of the Federal Government to discontinue the payment of the FUTA Primary school staff salaries, the general public is hereby informed that the issue is not peculiar to FUTA as it is a National matter and in handling it, the Management of FUTA has followed due process in the implementation of the discontinuance of funding of Primary Schools being run by Federal Universities and allied Institutions. A circular from the Federal Government to this effect was conveyed to the management of FUTA.
After a thorough appraisal of the Federal Government Circular which precluded Personnel/ Teachers of Primary School affiliated to Institutions/Agencies from being included in the nominal roll as from January 2016, FUTA Management sought the approval of the Governing Council to make the Primary School independent of government funding. This is to ensure that the University is in a position to pay the salaries of Teachers and Personnel in its employment, whose payment the Federal Government has stopped since 31st December, 2015.
The position of FUTA Management is borne out of genuine commitment to re-organise and ensure that pupils and staff of the primary school are not faced with embarrassment following the decision of Federal Government to discontinue the payment of their salaries. However it is to be noted that FUTA Management has put in place the Staff Primary School Management Board to run its affairs just like that of the University Secondary School Management Board to run the School towards attaining financial autonomy, self-funding and sustainability.
The management duly advertised for interested persons to apply for positions in the Primary School. The advertisement was carried in selected radio and television stations, the University notice boards and website. At the expiration of the advertisement, the selection process was done following due process transparently with the highest level of integrity and those that applied/re-applied and found appointable have been offered appointment as appropriate.
Consequent upon the foregoing, it is totally false and baseless to insinuate any form of favouritism or illegality in the recruitment process. However, the above stated facts can be verified in the public domain.
