Scrap NYSC Scheme-Dr Aliagan tells FG on a radio programme. Dr. Abubakar Aliagan, a lecturer in the Department of Religions ‎at the University of Ilorin has urged the Federal Government to scrap the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) scheme.
To this, Dr. Aliagan noted that it would facilitate the provision ‎of jobs and further enhance nation-building as well as security of lives and property.
According to Dr Aliagan, who spoke on a radio programme, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ‎and monitored by the Daily Times correspondent, “The NYSC scheme is causing greater damage to our society than the assumed good.”
He stated that the factors and fundamentals supporting the continuous existence of the scheme were borne out of selfishness, lacked focus and corruption.
Aliagan further stressed that “President Muhammadu Buhari should urgently ensure that the scheme is scrapped and facilitate the total sum of entitlement of each corps members, hand it over to them at the point of graduation and free them.”
