Chairman of SSANU in the university, Mr. Ademola Oketunde , during a press conference, said the association would not allow any candidate to be imposed on the university through the back door. He said the university would witness a great change if the next vice-chancellor could be picked from outside the “ current management caucus.” Oketunde said, “We want integrity in the selection process of the next vice-chancellor of OAU.
We have suffered a lot in the hands of these perpetrators called administrators in our university. “For the past 15 years, workers in OAU have been in bondage.
It is no longer bearable and we cannot afford to undergo another round of this ill treatment in the hands of this group. “We want all universities in this country to be probed most especially OAU. The government should make the school management account for every kobo it has spent and in case you don’t know, we don’t have a governing council in the institution anymore. ” NASU chairman alleged that the university management is working towards imposing a candidate because it probably has something to hide. But the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, described the allegation by the two unions as baseless.
