An accreditation team from the Board of Veterinary Council of Nigeria is due in the University of Ilorin this Monday (July 25, 2016) to access the facilities at the University of Ilorin Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UIVTH) for the purpose of clinical accreditation.
The Director of UIVTH, Prof Emmanuel O. Oyedipe, disclosed this to Unilorin Bulletin during a chat in his office penultimate Friday (July 15, 2016).
According to Prof. Oyedipe, “this accreditation will permit all graduating students of the ten academic programmes in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to practise as professional veterinarians.
The Director said, “The Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation permits academic institutions to start their programmes after meeting basic standards. They then visit regularly to monitor quality and adherence. Usually in our case, that involves pre-clinical and para-clinical facilities and training curriculum and we have passed all that”.
