Professor Ajayi is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) while Professor Oluwaleye becomes Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development). Their appointments which took effect from Monday, 25th of July, 2016 followed the Senate and the Governing Council approval.
Professor Ajayi and Professor Oluwaleye replaced Professor (Mrs.) Ibiyinka Ogunlade and Professor Victor Adeoluwa whose tenure expired on Saturday, 23rd of July, 2016
Professor (Mrs.) Ajayi of the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science of the University had held various positions before her appointment. She was a Sub-Dean, Head of Department as well as Assistant Director, Pre degree Science, among other notable positions. She was Chairman, Senate Committee on Special Task force on Recovery of Students Academic Records in the Faculty of Arts and until her appointment; she was the Chairman, University Bakery Committee.
Born on 7th November, 1964 in Ifaki-Ekiti, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) attended University of Benin, Benin-City (1981-1985) where she obtained B.Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry. She attended the University of Ibadan (1988-1990) and obtained a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and in the year 2000 the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) bagged a Doctorate degree from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.
She is a member of several professional societies. These include: Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology, National Association of Women in Academics (EKSU Chapter), and Organization of Women Scientists in Developing World.
Professor Ajayi has thirty nine well researched publications in both local and international journals. She is married and blessed with children.
Professor Oluwaleye attended University of Ilorin, Kwara State (1982-1987) where he bagged his first degree in Mechanical Engineering, and in 1990, from the same university, he bagged his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and obtained his Doctorate Degree from University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) in 2007.
Professor Oluwaleye, a Professor of Thermo fluid, started his teaching career in Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) in 1982 as a Graduate Assistant and rose to the position of a Professor in October 2013.
He has held several positions in the University including being a Sub-Dean in a Faculty of Engineering, Acting Head of Department, and Departmental Project coordinator among others.
Professor Oluwaleye possesses sterling academic and administrative qualities which had in the past earned him numerous awards, honors and distinctions. These include: Award of being the second best among graduating students 1987, University of Ilorin, Federal Government Post Scholarship Award 1989, Best Poster Award at the maiden research fair of Ekiti State University (2012), World training and research grants.
A prolific writer, Professor Oluwaleye has fifty publications in both local and international journals.
He is married and blessed with children.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele has since congratulated the two Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
