UPDATED:

Further to the three weeks old industrial action embarked upon by the three Trade Unions of the Federal polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, the mid-semester break declared for students on academic activities has again been extended by  another two weeks with effect from Friday, 4th November, 2016.
A new Circular, addressed to all students, dated 3rd November, 2016, and signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Mrs. Sade Adediran noted that “in view of the continued industrial action embarked upon by the three Staff Unions, the Management has decided to extend the mid-semester break by another two weeks with effect from Friday, 4th November, 2016 to allow for a peaceful atmosphere on campus before Students’ resumption.”
The Registrar, who advised the general public to await further announcement on the resumption of academic activities at the end of the extended mid-semester break, counseled in the Circular that “all students, their Parents and Guardians are hereby urged to be patient and await further information at the end of the mid-semester break before making necessary travel arrangement back to the campus.”
While pleading with the Trade Unions to show understanding in bringing about quick resolution of the impasse, the Polytechnic Management regretted the impact of the extended mid-semester break on the Students and the academic calendar of the Institution.

The Industrial impasse between Trade Unions and Management of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti has further taken toll on the academic calendar of the institution, as additional one week has been added to the earlier declared two weeks mid-semester break.
It would be recalled that the authorities of the Polytechnic following the industrial face off by the three staff Unions, ASUP, SSANIP and NASU, declared two weeks mid-semester break with effect from Wednesday, 12th October, 2016.
In a Circular dated 24th October, 2016, signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Mrs. Sade Adediran disclosed that “Management has decided to extend the mid-semester break of two (2) weeks by another one (1) week with effect from Thursday, 27th October, 2016.”
While admonishing all full time students to await further announcement on their resumption at the end of the mid-semester break, she further advised all students, their Parents and Guardians to note the one week extension in the hope that the industrial impasse would have been resolved before making necessary travel arrangements back to the campus
