Polytechnics Should be Given Oppurtunity to Start Award of Degree

The Federal Government has been advised to give opportunity to Polytechnics to award degrees in order to attain the goals of the present administration National Economic Recovery and Growth policy.

The outgoing Rector Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Engineer Shuaibu Musa gave the advice while handing over the affairs of the polytechnic held at the instructions council chamber.

Engineer Shuaibu Musa said there is the need for restructuring of the Polytechnic sector as part of efforts to make it more qualitative and efficient.

He also called for the review of out sourcing of essential welfare services so as to reduce industrial disharmony between management and staff of the Polytechnics.

According to him, he had introduced four policies to ensure effective service delivery in the polytechnic to include improving Academic culture and provision of infrastructural facilities among others.

The outgoing Rector said the Institution has established a new school of Agriculture in line with the federal governments efforts to achieve national development.

In his remarks, the Chairman Governing Council of the Polytechnic Alhaji Abubakar Dantata represented by a member of the council Alhaji Ashu Abubakar commended the outgoing Rector for the achievement recorded especially for the accreditation of all the courses run by the polytechnic.
Receiving the mantle of leadership of the Institution, the acting Rector Architect Sunusi Waziri Gumau who said he would work towards bridging the gap between the management and staff, promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
